It’s mobile – they come to you, you don’t need to travel to them. Saves time and gas. No need to leave your home and ask your boss if you can take some time off.
After an impact, you will probably feel a myriad of emotions. The first thing you need to do is stay calm and try not to panic. This can be very hard to do, especially if you are disoriented from the air bag deployment or impact. Check on everyone in the car to make sure they are safe and unharmed. Make a call to 911 and let them know that there has been a collision and inform them of any medical concerns.
Do you have any kind of breathing difficulty? Chemicals used in the process of body work and painting might be intolerable for you. They are intolerable for some and it would be a shame for you to invest time and money to get good body repair training and then not be able to do it, though you have the desire. Some folks just cannot handle the environment and it is not an insult, to some it is as bad as space walking without a suit.
Most of this is in reference to body panels. (ie fender to door, door to quarter.etc). When it comes to bumpers it’s a bit of a different game. Bumpers very seldom match from the factory; this is because the plastic is often painted at a separate plant, sometimes in a separate country. Even if they wanted to, the bumpers couldn’t be painted with the rest of the car given the extreme temperature it’s baked at from the factory. With that in mind, many shops will paint a bumper without blending and just try to obtain a close match and don’t blend the fenders because it didn’t match before. If that’s alright with you then great, otherwise have them bring the color into the fenders.
One thing to check is how long the shop has been in business for. This is not a sole indicator, but if the shop has been in business for some time chances are they are reliable and should do a good job on your vehicle. Don’t choose a shop that has secured a bad name for their shop. Also, if you were to have any problems down the road you want to be sure that they will be around to uphold any warranty or guarantee that they will most likely give you.
If you have found yourself in the bad position of having to buy high-risk car insurance, you have felt the pain of the enormous premiums that are associated with it. Very few high-risk insurers will write you a nice note and tell you that it is time to find cheaper insurance. It is up to you to begin to shop for insurers who will cover you at the lower risk prices. After a couple of years of being high-risk, most people will qualify for better rates.
At some point after this, I magically met the love of my life. He saw me in the driveway fixing a rusty part of my car with epoxy resin. automotive paint tool was my learn-something-new-challenge, and i had never done this before.
The fender pictured above has a typical dent in the side: oval-shaped, 3 inches long and 2 inches wide. In that case, they used a hammer with a large, flat round top, to be sure the overall force of the blows would be evenly transmitted over an area of a couple square inches. This helped “pound out the dent” without creating unsightly, little pin-sized mounds.
